My small people are no longer so small.
I remember when softball looked like this.
And baseball looked like this.
And now my miniature athletes wear uniforms instead of shorts and t-shirts.
But with the height and the growing and the additional ability to kick and run and throw and catch and field comes added responsibility. Slowly but surely, I’ve been having my small people get involved in their own sports processes: where are their uniforms? Are they clean? What time is practice? Do they know where their equipment is?
Last week I shared how I was working with the Home Collection by Post-it® Brand, Scotch® Brand and Command™ Brands to create an area in our home that organized all of the small people’s sports activities. You see…. my husband has ALWAYS been in charge of that area of our world. It helps that he is the coach of at least three of the teams and the assistant of a few others, but STILL… it would still be helpful if I could answer the occasional, ‘what time is tomorrow’s game?’ or ‘is there a softball tournament next weekend?’.
So this new Home Collection centered Sports area in our home ensures not only that I have all of the details laid out, but that both Cooper and Delaney can see their weekly highlights, and also that the schedule is in plain view for them to reference. It is just steps from the door when they get home, so one of the first places they stop. You see, the priority isn’t only that I stay organized, but that the kids are a part of the process too.
And just because I love them and know they need additional reminders, I attach Post-it® Reminder Tags to their back packs to keep them on track. They love seeing the tags throughout the day and I think it’s fun that they come home knowing what to expect for the rest of the day.
Between baseball, softball, football, soccer and soon basketball, I guess you can imagine I’ll be changing those tags quite a bit.
