5 tips to keep your home organized at the end of the school year

With the end of school come concerts, plays, sports championships, awards ceremonies, finals, parties, dances and about a thousand other things you need to keep track of. Add to that the forms, reading lists, projects, report cards and all the other paper that comes from home or goes back to school, and you've got an organization challenge that might require a few extra items from your bag of tricks. Luckily, we've got you covered.

Tip #1 – Make a master plan

Create a master calendar for the family where you can plan the week out in advance and everyone can see what's going on. Stick a Post-it® Dry Erase Planner on the fridge and you're halfway home. Just label the days and fill it in with the family schedule. For extra organization points, add a Command™ Clear Small Caddy full of dry erase markers somewhere nearby, and assign everyone in the family their own color of marker.

Tip #2 – Give everyone a spot

When every family member has their own place for papers, notes and details, it's easier to keep things on track. Get one Post-it® Pocket for every family member, label each one and create a go-to spot for everyone in the family. It's the perfect place to collect important things as they come in the door, and make sure they don't fall by the wayside.

Tip #3 – Jog their memories

A little reminder goes a long way. When someone needs to remember to take something to school or work, go to a game, study for a test – or anything else you think they might forget – leave them a Post-it® Reminder Tag to make sure it gets done. They work especially well for the times when a family member has to head out the door when you're not around.

Tip #4 – Keep the important stuff handy

When a vital piece of paper just has to get to school or work, it helps if it's in plain sight. Put a Post-it® Grip Board in a spot that's convenient to the front door, so people can grab what they need on their way out. Whether it's a letter to mail, a signed permission slip or some all-important pizza money, it's more likely to get there when it's close at hand.

Tip #5 – Celebrate!

It's easy to get caught up in remembering everything you have to do, but it's important not to forget what you've got to celebrate. When the year-end drawings, photos and awards come flooding in, put them on display on the fridge or walls with Scotch® Display Frames or other Fit to Frame products and show everyone what a great year you had together.
