Our family duties are fairly equally split. I am in charge of all things related to the small people and school and my husband tackles all things related to the the kids and sports.
Now, as the school year winds down and the sports pick up (dear god, save me from the months of April, May, and June!) the balance of power shifts, mainly because it simply must for the sanity of all.
The problem is, my friends, I am, quite simply, not prepared for the avalanche of this shift to occur. I am not on the emails from coaches (P.S. my husband is the coach of many of the teams) and have managed to live a blessedly, beautiful 'need-to-know' existence when it comes to sports.
I am fantastic on the sidelines, grabbing many an action shot.
I only miss games if I am out of town and though I never played, I understand beyond the basics of each of the sports my small people play: baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, volleyball and football. I cheer with the best of them and I even wear the branded shirt I swore I never would (pre-kids, of course).
But here's the challenge: Creating an organized, centralized Sports Zone in our home that keeps all of us on track (ME – not just the coach!) and celebrates the beauty of their talent and efforts.
I'm excited to be working with the Home Collection to tackle this very challenge. The Home Collection includes products from products from the Post-it® Brand, Scotch® Brand and Command™ Brands (so many I know you likely have around your home already) that are designed to make life easier for busy families. Each product offers a simple solution that fits seamlessly in to our home and in to our lives to streamline family, life and work. Just look.
I knew I needed a calendar to keep track of the many practices and games, a place for quick reminders, something to tackle the excess 'papers' and definitely a way to highlight those moments I regularly capture on the sidelines of my small people in their element.
The Post-it® Grip Display Rail and Post-it® Grip Board were the first two pieces I chose. I knew I'd be able to put up my favorite photos of the kids in addition to allowing the board to 'grip' this Summer's tournament schedules and camps and my last minute to-do's – everything from laundry (a regular occurrence) to which new gear is needed. (cleats anyone?)
The Post-it® Dry Erase Planner was a no-brainer…. there isn't a chance I can remember what sporting event is happening from one day to the next, let alone the time. Right now, we are juggling baseball, softball, soccer and football. In a matter of weeks, we will be adding a basketball clinic. Yes, I only have two children. The Command ™ Clear Caddy keeps the dry erase markers close by.
It took me less than 10 minutes to hang ALL of these pieces. They all have the Command™ strips on the back which mean even the most challenged decorators (like me) can tackle a project with ease.
Once I had everything I needed, it was simply a matter of putting this week's schedule on the board and of course, making sure each of my small people (and their respective sports) were properly represented. Since baseball and softball take up a good portion of our time right now – they are the focus. I will be swapping out the main picture each week with Coop and Delaney's 'Play of the Week'.
What area of your home could use some organizing and what would be your favorite products to use?
